We’ll be hearing about the week at Owasippe and getting gear sorted out. There might be time for some open gym, too.

We would like to collect some pictures from Owasippe and the Cobia submarine weekend. We will include them in the Gallery. There is a separate section for photos taken by Scouts. Check it out when you get a minute.
– Car Wash Wrap-Up
Thank you to everyone who contributed time, energy, refreshments, and supplies to the annual car wash. We beat last year’s record of 97 cars washed – coming in at a total of 101 cars this year!
Special thanks to Bishop John, Dan Pritt, Diane Holmen, and Barb Ernat. They provided extensive support behind the scenes by reserving space, placing announcements on the marquee and in the bulletin, and making sure we had access to electricity and bathrooms. Thanks also to Wayne Gulliford for coordinating the preparations for the day.
The beauty of the car wash is that it unifies the Troop in one easy fundraiser that is done in half a day.
– Canoe Float – Saturday, August 15 – Des Plaines River
We are planning to do a canoe float on the Des Plaines River in Lake County. The six and a half mile stretch of river between Independence Grove Forest Preserve (Libertyville) to the Route 60 canoe landing (Vernon Hills) is perfect for beginner and intermediate paddlers. There are shallow sand bars and clear water in a few places that allow for breaks and cooling off in the water.
Scouts who have passed the BSA Swim Test are eligible to go. A scout who has not yet passed the Swim Test may go if they are accompanied by a parent.
We will need parents to participate in this outing to make it happen.
There will be more information at the next couple Troop meetings.
