– Next Troop Meeting – July 27 – 7:00-9:00 PM – School Hall

We will be taking the POISON IVY QUIZ and competing for fabulous prizes! We’ll also be talking about the Des Plaines River Canoe Outing. Hopefully, we can get some time in the gym, too.
Class B uniforms – please!

– Des Plaines River Canoe Outing – Saturday, August 15

We are set to paddle on the Des Plaines River in Lake County. The six and a half mile stretch of river between Independence Grove Forest Preserve (Libertyville) and the Route 60 canoe landing (Vernon Hills) is perfect for beginner  and intermediate paddlers. There are shallow sandbars and clear water in a few places that allow for breaks and cooling off in the water.
Scouts who have passed the BSA Swim Test are eligible to go. A Scout who has not yet passed the Swim Test may go if they are accompanied by a parent.
The permission trip for the outing is available on the Troop website and is due no later than the August 10 Troop meeting. There is no cost for this outing. The Troop will provide canoes, life jackets, and paddles. Paddlers should plan to bring a sack lunch, snacks, sun protection, and a full water bottle.
Thank you to the parents who have already signed up to help out!

– Troop Website Photo Gallery

We would like to collect some pictures from Owasippe, the High Cliff/Cobia submarine weekend, and the Des Plaines River outing to include in the Troop website photo Gallery. There is a separate section for photos taken by Scouts. Check it out when you get a minute. And send in your pictures!
